Security forces' meddling and the judiciary's obstruction have prevented these Azerbaijani activists from being temporarily released on bail following their arrest.

Aydin Mahammadi, Abdullah Vahidi, Salar Taher Afshar, Vadud Asadi, and Fatima Atashi Khiyavi are among the other Azerbaijani activists involved in this case who have been sent to Evin prison since February 2025 to complete their sentences.

It should be mentioned that on January 6, 7, and 8, 2024, intelligence forces detained these activists in a number of Azerbaijani cities, including Tehran, Karaj, Ardabil, Tabriz, Rasht, Khiyav, Urmia, Astara, and Islamshahr, without a court order.

Judge Abdulqasim Salavati of the Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Court ordered the activists' arrest after they were found guilty of "espionage," "propaganda against the Islamic Republic," and "gathering and colluding to commit crimes against internal and external security."
