South Azerbaijani activist Behzad Pashazadeh released from prison

Behzad Pashazadeh, a South Azerbaijani activist, was freed from Urmia prison on May 13 after being detained by security forces on May 7, human rights organizations report.

Based on the information, Pashazadeh was temporarily freed on 700 million Iranian tomans bail pending trial. There was no information given regarding the accusations made against him.

It should be mentioned that Behzad Pashazadeh has previously been arrested on multiple occasions for engaging in nonviolent cultural activities.

He was arrested in 2011 for taking part in demonstrations against Lake Urmia's drying up and in 2015 for taking part in demonstrations against the humiliation of Azerbaijanis on the Iranian television show "Fitila."
