Water shortages have reached crisis levels in 16 cities and 202 villages across Qazvin province, Davud Birnavandi, the head of the provincial Water and Sewerage Company reports.
He stated that the problem is now more serious in 167 villages, and that water is being delivered to them via tankers.
Birnavandi stated that 200 wells must be drilled to address the issue, but no funds have been allocated for this.
It should be noted that Qazvin's water shortage has had a significant impact on the agricultural sector.
Rajab Rahmani, a Qazvin representative in the Iranian parliament, previously stated that drought and water shortages had destroyed 6,000 hectares of orchards in the province's Takistan district.
