Reza Valizadeh, an imprisoned employee of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Tehran, reported this.

In an audio recording released from prison, he claimed that IRGC officers demanded that he bring foreign journalists to Iran through deception and persuasion.

"The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Intelligence Organization promised me a substantial sum of money to win over my colleagues in the Persian-language media overseas and persuade them to come back to Iran," Valizadeh continued.

According to the imprisoned journalist, IRGC officers also offered him financial assistance to start a media outlet overseas.

It should be mentioned that Reza Valizadeh, who left Radio Farda (Free Europe/Radio Liberty) in November 2022 after ten years of service, returned to Iran to see his family after a period of time spent overseas. He was arrested on September 22, 2024.
