According to the information, Mehdi Rahimi, 49, and Kia Nurinia, 56, were accused of "promoting the anti-Iranian Zionist Christian faith" and "smuggling banned religious books." In addition, they were each sentenced to 15 years of deprivation of public rights and fined 1 billion Iranian tomans ($12,000).

Although the Iranian constitution recognizes Christianity, it should be noted that the Tehran government severely punishes Muslims who convert to Christianity. Particularly in recent years, hundreds of people who converted to Christianity have been imprisoned, many of whom were given long prison sentences.
