The Tehran provincial police department has released information regarding the case.

According to the statement, the body of the 24-year-old woman, bearing two stab wounds to the chest, was discovered in the outskirts of Tehran.

Police confirmed that Elaha Hoseynnejad was murdered and that the perpetrator has been arrested.

According to the police, the murderer confessed to luring the young woman out of the city in a taxi he was driving in order to steal her phone.

However, the police statement has been met with discontent on local social media platforms, with claims that the real motive behind the murder is being covered up.

Users have pointed out that Elaha Hoseynnejad was previously active in protest movements and suggested that she was killed due to her critical posts on social media about the violation of women’s rights.

It is worth noting that Elaha Hoseynnejad held a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Although she lived with her family in Eslamshahr, she was originally from Sarab in East Azerbaijan.
