Official data from Iran’s Central Bank, published by Tejarat News, reveals a starkly unequal distribution of banking facilities across the country. According to the statistics, only 2.5% of total national banking loans by the end of Farvardin 1404 (April 2025) were allocated to five of Iran’s most deprived provinces: Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, South Khorasan, and North Khorasan.

In contrast, Tehran Province alone absorbed 63% of all banking resources—primarily not for productive purposes, but for speculative activities, luxury construction, brokerage, and the interests of certain privileged groups. Experts say this trend not only reflects deep inequality but also indicates a structural and organized plunder system, formed under the guise of formal monetary and banking policies.

Economic analysts argue that this concentration of financial resources has led to migration, unemployment, recession, and the collapse of local productive capacities in peripheral regions—what some describe as a form of “internal colonization.”
