Since their detention, these Azerbaijani activists have not been released on bail due to interference by security forces in the judicial process.

It should be noted that other Azerbaijani activists related to this case—Vadud Asadi, Abdullah Vahidi, and Salar Tahir Afshar—were transferred to Evin Prison in February 2025.

Seyyed Mohammad Reza Faqihi has also been held in Evin Prison since January 2025.

These activists, imprisoned in Evin, were arrested in February 2024 by intelligence forces without court warrants in various cities of Azerbaijan, including Tehran, Karaj, Ardabil, Tabriz, Rasht, Khiyav, Urmia, Eslamshahr, and Astara.

They have been charged with “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against internal and external security,” “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and “espionage.”
