Mostafa Ekrami, a Turkic Azerbaijani civil activist from Khiyav (Meshgin Shahr), has been released on bail approximately three weeks after his arrest. Security agents deleted all of his Instagram posts and blocked access to his account.
Ekrami was arrested at his home in Khiyav on Sunday, May 18, 2025, by agents from the Intelligence Department.
During the arrest, the agents confiscated his mobile phone. Following his detention, his Instagram account was repeatedly accessed, indicating that security agencies were monitoring and controlling his social media through the seized device.
Mostafa Ekrami has been arrested multiple times in recent years due to his civil activism in defense of the rights of the oppressed Turkic population.
