Authorities in Bushehr have reported that a fire on a methanol-carrying ship in the port of Dayyer resulted in three deaths and ten injuries. According to Kourosh Dehghan, Director General of the Crisis Management Office of the Bushehr Governorate, the fire has been contained, and firefighting teams have conducted cooling operations on the tank.

Hassan Mousavi, head of pre-hospital emergency services in Bushehr Province, stated on Wednesday, June 11, that the fire broke out in a methanol tank belonging to the Kaveh Petrochemical Company. He warned that the number of casualties could rise due to the severity of the incident.

According to Alireza Sajjadi, Governor of Dayyer County, the explosion occurred Wednesday morning during welding operations on a barge (a type of vessel), which led to the fire.

In recent months, several explosions and fires have occurred in industrial zones and refineries across various cities in Iran. The Islamic Republic has largely attributed these incidents to negligence and human error.

On May 30, Hojjat Rezaei, Deputy Governor for Political and Security Affairs of Fars Province, reported that a gas leak at one of the Shiraz refinery units resulted in three deaths and twelve cases of poisoning. He cited “negligence and failure to follow technical protocols” as the cause of the toxic gas leak.

On May 3, a fire at a petrochemical raw materials production unit in Mahmoudabad Industrial Zone in Qom injured six workers with burns.

Amir Khalaj, labor inspector at the Qom Department of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, dismissed rumors of tank or reactor explosions, stating: “In this industrial unit, which had been undergoing overhaul for a week, a limited fire broke out during welding to replace a pipe between a tank and reactor. The fire was contained in under a minute.”

On May 2, a massive fire broke out at the “Tamasha” paint factory in Sharifabad Industrial Zone, Pakdasht.
