Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that killing Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is not off the table, claiming it would end the decades-long conflict between the two nations.
In an interview with ABC News, Netanyahu dismissed reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump vetoed such a plan over fears of escalation, asserting instead: “It’s not going to escalate the conflict — it’s going to end the conflict.”
He blamed the Iranian regime for perpetuating violence in the region and warned that Tehran is dragging the world toward a nuclear confrontation. Netanyahu framed Israel’s current military actions as part of a broader effort to “stand up to the forces of evil” and halt Iranian aggression. However, he refrained from confirming whether Khamenei would be a specific Israeli target, saying only, “We’re doing what we need to do.”
