Russia sides with Iran in nuclear case

Iran has the right to use nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes, and Moscow is ready to assist Tehran in developing peaceful atomic energy.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

According to him, Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear technology programs: "Russia is ready to provide Iran with "necessary assistance and support, as in previous years," in the development of peaceful nuclear energy."

Putin noted that Russia remains committed to its position on nuclear non-proliferation.

"The position of the Russian Federation is that we are against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the expense of any country in the world, including Iran."

He stressed that the International Atomic Energy Agency has no information about Iran's attempts to create nuclear weapons: "Iran has repeatedly stated that it does not intend to create nuclear weapons. The IAEA also has no signs of the creation of nuclear weapons and no evidence of this."

Putin also said that the fatwa in Iran prohibiting this country from possessing nuclear weapons is of great importance.
