The U.S. Considers Equipping Israel with B-2 Bombers and GBU-57 Bunker-Busting Bombs

Israel’s Channel 14 reported on Wednesday, July 2, citing a security source, that the United States is considering allowing Israel to acquire “stealth bombers” and bombs capable of penetrating bunkers and fortifications.

The source explained to the Israeli network that, according to a new bipartisan bill introduced in Congress on Wednesday by both Republican and Democratic parties, Israel may be armed in the future with B-2 bombers and GBU-57 bunker-busting bombs.

The security source described the development as an “unprecedented step,” noting that “these advanced weapons have never been provided to any foreign country before.” According to the bill’s sponsors, the goal is “to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear state.”

The bill is spearheaded by Representatives Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), who stated: “Israel is America’s closest military ally in the Middle East, and if Iran crosses red lines again, Israel must be ready to act independently.”

Their proposal emphasizes that “under no circumstances should Iran be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.”

The bill states: “President Donald Trump is authorized to provide Israel with any equipment, support, training, or resources — including weapon systems previously reserved for exclusive U.S. use — to ensure Iran remains a non-nuclear state.”

According to Channel 14, this move comes in response to reports of renewed activity at Iran’s underground nuclear facilities.
