Mehdieh Shadmani, the daughter of Ali Shadmani—the commander of the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Base who was killed during recent Israeli strikes—has responded to remarks made by the head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization, stressing that her father was killed without having a mobile phone on him and that Israel’s tracking methods go far beyond WhatsApp or conventional and individual espionage.

On Friday, Mehdieh Shadmani wrote on her social media page: “My father’s location changed every few hours. He did not have any smart device with him, and all security protocols were strictly followed. Yet, he was targeted multiple times.”

Rejecting the theory that messaging apps were used to track him, she added: “Israel’s precise tracking goes beyond WhatsApp or traditional and personal espionage. I wish officials would focus on identifying the core and advanced methods behind these operations rather than merely repeating warnings about foreign software.”

She also noted that at the time he was targeted, her father was “in military uniform, without rank insignia, and dressed as a civilian.”

Earlier, the head of the Passive Defense Organization had claimed: “The WhatsApp messenger played a role in locating and assassinating some commanders, including Ismail Haniyeh’s position.”
