In this regard, Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani’s deputy Davud Goodarzi made a statement.

“Section 41 remained as it was, and section 42 needed a parking lot, so we got permission from the authorities and turned it into a parking lot,” he said.

Section 41 of Behesht Zahra is one of the most famous burial sites for opponents and critics of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s regime, where many political prisoners who were executed in recent decades are buried.

Families of several executed individuals have posted on social media announcing the destruction of section 41 of Behesht Zahra, calling it an attempt by the Islamic Republic to erase traces of its own crimes.

In recent years, various reports have been published about the Islamic Republic’s efforts to destroy the graves of those executed in the 1980s, raising concerns about the gradual erasure of the remains of the victims.
