The death sentence of Ehsan Faridi, a 22-year-old student at Tabriz University, has been confirmed by the Supreme Court and he is on the verge of execution.
Human rights activist and Azerbaijani lawyer Sina Yousefi announced on his social media account that Faridi was sentenced to death by the Third Branch of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Hassan Fathpour.
It should be noted that while Ehsan Faridi’s initial charge was “propaganda against the system,” after being released on bail, he was re-arrested approximately 40 days later and his charge was changed to “corruption” and he was transferred to Tabriz prison.
The Azerbaijani student is currently facing the threat of execution.
