The power struggle in Iran - the conflict between the IRGC and reformists is heating up

Following Israel's attack on Iran, the conflict between factions within the government has become more apparent than before, amid the sharp decline in the authority of the country's leader, Ali Khamenei.

The conflict intensified after the release of a video of Ali Shamkhani's daughter's lavish wedding, in which the rules of the compulsory hijab were not observed.

According to some Iranian media outlets, the former reformist President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, was behind the release of the video.

After some IRGC commanders supported Shamkhani, Hassan Rouhani's advisor, Hisameddin Ashena, issued a threatening statement.

He threatened former IRGC commander Mohammad Ali Jafari.to expose the corruption and illegal activities in the organization he led.

This was also in response to Mohammad Ali Jafari's statement after former President Hassan Rouhani and Mohammad Javad Zarif criticized Russia-Iran relations.

Rouhani and Zarif said that Iran's reliance on Russia and further straining relations with the West would lead to tragedy.

At the same time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Ghalibaf accused Rouhani and Zarif of "damaging strategic cooperation with Russia."

According to political experts, the escalation of conflicts in the Islamic Republic is taking place at a time when the power structure is weakening and internal disagreements are becoming more apparent.

According to them, forces that previously hesitated to openly express their conflicts and rivalries within the government are now doing so openly.
