Ali Lisani was detained and interrogated by security forces for several hours

Ali Lisani, the son of Abbas Lisani, a prominent activist of the Azerbaijani National Movement, was arrested and forced into a car by several plainclothes officers while on his way to work in the city of Ardabil.

After leading him to the car, the officers changed their tone and demeanor from aggressive to “friendly” and introduced themselves as “experts from the Ministry of Intelligence.”

They told Ali Lisani that if he agreed to meet and talk with his father, the officers could provide him with an independent work permit, a business license, and a bank loan. The officers also emphasized that “the country’s conditions were unstable” and that they wanted to ask Abbas Lisani his views and perspectives on “future events” and discuss his recent statement.

In response, Ali Lisani flatly rejected this request, saying: “My father would never agree to such a meeting; if the meeting is necessary for you, you can arrest him, but thirty years of experience show that even with pressure and arrest you will not achieve the cooperation you want.”

After this response, the officers threatened Ali Lisani with arrest and demanded him to agree with the offer of cooperation.

Ali Lasani rejected their request, considering this proposal "an invitation to betray the homeland, the Azerbaijani people and its freedom fighters."

There is still no clear information about the identities of the officials involved in this incident and the legal status of the event.
