A memorial was held for Aylar Haqqi

A memorial was held yesterday at Tabriz's Vadi Rahmat Cemetery for Aylar Haqqi, a young doctor who was shot and killed by government officials on November 16, 2022.

A. Haqqi's family members, cultural and national activists from different regions visited her grave.

Aylar Haqqi was born on September 11, 1999 in the city of Malkandi (Malikan) of the East Azerbaijan province.

Aylar Haqqi, who later moved to Tabriz with her family, continued her education there and entered the Tabriz Department of Medical Sciences of the Islamic Azad University.

Aylar Haqqi, who participated in the protests that began in Iran in September 2022, was killed by government officials on the evening of November 16 of that year.

According to eyewitnesses, she took refuge in one of the buildings after government forces used violence against the demonstrators.

Several officials who were chasing the protesters followed her into the building and shot Aylar Haqqi in the head.

The young student, who suffered serious injuries, died on the spot.

Despite the wishes of her family, A. Haqqi was not allowed to be buried in her hometown of Malikkendi, and she was buried in the Wadi Rahmat cemetery in Tabriz on November 18.

There was a crowd at Haqqi's funeral, and government forces used force to disperse the crowd, and dozens of participants in the ceremony were arrested.
