Using force is not the solution to the problem - Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers yesterday.

“Raising awareness and clarifying public opinion play an important role in preventing the emergence of discontent and social tension,” he added.

The president emphasized that direct interaction with the people, listening to their concerns, demands and criticisms, and trying to convince public opinion play an effective role in reducing psychological and social pressure.

Pezeshkian insisted that the use of force against the discontented will not yield positive results:

“The society cannot be convinced or pacified by force and wrong methods.”

It should be noted that large-scale protests have begun in Iran after the recent sharp depreciation of the national currency against the dollar.

During the protests that have been going on for a week, 20 protesters were killed and up to 1,000 people were arrested.
