At the same time as the likelihood of an American attack on Iran increases, the Iranian government is trying to secure the support of proxy forces in the region and to re-establish them.

Nazim al-Saidi, head of the executive council of Iraq's IRGC-affiliated Al-Nujaba movement, announced that the group has begun a process of recruiting volunteers in all provinces of Iraq.

In his statement, he described any negotiations with Washington as "repeated deception" and claimed that any attack on Iran or its leadership would be met with an unexpected response.

Similarly, Abu Hussein al-Hamidavi, secretary general of Iraq's Hezbollah brigades, also announced the launch of a volunteer registration campaign to "defend the Islamic Republic of Iran."

In a continuation of such efforts, an event was held at the Iranian Consulate General in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan.

The event was attended by the country's Shiite clerics and leaders of Iran-affiliated groups.

They said they would support Ali Khamenei in any attack on Iran.
