According to sources, Yashar Nurmahamedzadeh’s family contacted the police about the matter after he failed to show up for work. After law enforcement first checked his ID, they sent the family to the Parand 17 police station and then to the intelligence department. The family was eventually able to identify Yashar Nurmahamedzadeh’s body by looking at photos of protest victims.

The police told the family that the body of this citizen was initially registered as “unidentified” and was found in his locked car. However, the family denied this information and said that Yashar Nurmahamedzadeh died during the protest and as a result of direct fire from armed officers.

Yashar Nurmahamedzadeh was eventually buried in the city of Tabriz, next to his mother’s grave. He worked as a garment factory worker in Tehran, was married and had two children. His wife is also reportedly battling cancer.

Yashar's cousin, Sahand Nurmohammadzadeh, was previously sentenced to death during the 2022 protests, but his sentence was later reduced to six years and sent to exile for ten years.
