More than 27 days have passed since the arrest of Ali Sanai, a young Azerbaijani Turk from Ardabil, and there is still no information about his whereabouts or health condition.
Ali Sanai, the son of Azerbaijani activist Murtaza Sanai, was arrested by officers of the General Intelligence Directorate on January 8, 2025, after boarding a taxi during protests in Ardabil’s Shariati Square.
Reports indicate that he has been held in the Ardabil Provincial Intelligence Directorate’s detention center since his arrest. However, the lack of contact with his family and relatives has raised concerns about his condition.
Ali Sanai’s family has expressed deep concern and demanded immediate clarification of their son’s condition, whereabouts, and legal status, but this has so far gone unheeded.
