At least 11 people killed in Zanjan during protests

"The death toll, arrests, and violence in this city during the January 2026 protests were at levels not seen in the past four decades."

The arrests in this city began on January 3. Gradually, a number of prisoners were transferred to Zanjan prison.

The prisoners' documents have been sent to Zanjan courts since last week. A number of prisoners have been told that their participation in the trial will be carried out virtually from inside the prison.

"At least 11 people were killed during the protests in Zanjan in January 2026. The death toll is likely to be higher." - Parviz Yari said.

The journalist mentioned the names of those killed in the post as Metin Habibi, Mahammad Reza Amini, Amin Mousavi, Ilya Ojagli, Metin Parvizi, Samir Ahmadi, Arshia Barari, Javid Rezai, Reza Mousavi, Mehdi Gencdanesh and Behruz Aghajanli.

According to reports, the families of some of the people killed in Zanjan were offered 300 million tomans to register the dead as those killed by protesters. The families reportedly rejected this offer.
