The US Navy said the guided-missile destroyer USS Delbert D. Black conducted a “routine naval exercise” with the Israeli Navy’s Sa’ar 5-class corvette INS Eilat in the Red Sea after departing the southern Israeli port of Eilat.

The US Navy Central Command (NAVCENT) said the joint exercise was a demonstration of the “strong military partnership” between the US Fifth Fleet and the Israeli Navy and was part of the ongoing cooperation between the two sides.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Delbert D. Black anchored in Eilat on Friday for a “scheduled port visit,” and then departed the port the previous day.

The US Navy does not usually disclose the exact route of its ships for security reasons, so the destroyer's next destination after the Red Sea exercise has not been officially announced.

The Israeli military said the destroyer's arrival was planned in advance and is part of ongoing cooperation between the Israel Defense Forces and the US military.
