Female prisoner executed in Tabriz
A number of Azerbaijanis from the city of Tarim in Zanjan province were arrested by security forces in January and February 2026, and many of them are still in prison.
Retired teachers from Tarim, Javad Safari and Fatima Safari, have been arrested and transferred to Zanjan prison since January 24 without any reason or court order.
Despite the passage of 19 days, their families have still not received clear answers about the charges, the place of their detention, and the physical and legal status of the two citizens.
Reports indicate that the actual number of those detained is higher than announced, and the status of some remains unclear. Among those arrested are Seyid Khalil Mousavi, his wife, and his brother Seyid Sadreddin Mousavi.
