Ahmad Jannati, Secretary of Iran’s Guardian Council and a member of the Assembly of Experts, marked his 99th birthday on February 22, local media reported.
In an interview with local media on the occasion of his birthday, Jannati spoke about the reasons for his longevity and good health: “I exercise regularly every day and swim twice a week.”
Ahmad Jannati, who is considered a close associate of Iran’s Leader Ali Khamenei, has been on the U.S. sanctions list since 2019.
It should be noted that Iranians have given Jannati the nickname “Namir al-Mo'menin” (“the one among the faithful who does not die”) because of his advanced age.
