From March 21, 2025 to March 21, 2026, 2,657 people were executed in Iranian prisons.
Human rights organizations reported this.
Among those executed were 68 women, 22 political prisoners, and 8 individuals who were under 18 years old at the time of the crime.
This represents more than a twofold increase compared to the previous period. From March 21, 2024 to March 21, 2025, 1,159 prisoners were executed in Iran.
As a result, the total number of executions during the presidency of Masoud Pezeshkian has reached 3,625. This is more than twice the number recorded during the presidency of Ebrahim Raisi.
According to human rights organizations, the government has increased executions in order to create a climate of fear in society and suppress protests.
