Amnesty International issues warning: 7 political prisoners may be executed

In recent days, four political prisoners have been executed in Iran, and seven more are reportedly at risk of imminent execution.

This was reported by Amnesty International.

In its statement, the organization warned that Vahid Bani-Amirian, Abolhassan Montazeri, Mohammad Amin Bigleri, Ali Fahim, Abolfazl Salehi Siavoshani, Amir-Hossein Hatami, and Shahin Vahidiparast Kolon could be hanged at any moment.

“While people are suffering from war and bombardment, the continuation of executions shows that the death penalty is still being used as a tool to suppress dissent,” the statement emphasized.

Amnesty International also stated that the detainees had been subjected to torture and ill-treatment during their detention. The organization added that the trials were based on confessions obtained under torture and were conducted in a short time, describing Iran’s judicial processes as highly unfair.

It is worth noting that Babak Alipour, Pouya Goubadi, Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvar Kar, and Mohammad Taghavi Sangdehi were executed yesterday.
