Iran does not expect meaningful progress from negotiations with the United States and remains distrustful of Washington, even though it has entered the talks in what it describes as good faith, according to an Iranian lawmaker speaking on Thursday.
Vahid Ahmadi, a member of parliament’s national security commission, said the responsibility now lies with the United States to determine whether it is willing to meet Iran’s demands.
He added that if Washington fails to respond positively, Iran would not rule out continuing its current course, including ongoing conflict.
“It is now up to the United States to decide whether it can accept Iran’s demands. If it does not, the Islamic Republic will have no hesitation in continuing its path and the war,” he said.
