FT: Dozens of Iran-linked tankers evade US blockade

At least 34 tankers connected to Iran have managed to get past the US blockade since it was imposed, Financial Times reported, citing data from cargo analytics firm Vortexa.

According to the report, 19 of the ships sailed out of the Arabian Gulf despite the restrictions, while another 15 entered from the Arabian Sea on routes toward Iran.

Six of the outbound vessels were carrying Iranian crude oil, with combined volumes estimated at around 10.7 million barrels.

Using an approximate $10-per-barrel discount to Brent crude, the shipments are thought to have generated roughly $910 million in revenue.

Iranian crude is generally sold below market prices due to ongoing sanctions.
