China State Council: US weapons will not ensure Taiwan’s independence

Weapons purchased from the United States will not help Taiwan achieve independence.

This was stated by Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of China’s State Council, during a press conference.

According to him, no matter how many weapons Taiwan acquires, it will not change the “inevitable defeat” of pro-independence forces.

The Chinese official also emphasized that Beijing firmly opposes military cooperation between Washington and Taipei.

Chen Binhua added that Taiwan’s leadership is making the situation more dangerous by relying on foreign powers, which could lead to serious consequences for the island’s population.
