Trump seeks quick deal with Iran, warns of possible military action — Axios

US President Donald Trump may turn to large-scale military action against Iran if ongoing negotiations fail to produce a viable agreement soon, according to a report by Axios citing a senior US official.

The official said the administration is looking for clear progress toward a workable deal in the near term, otherwise the situation could escalate into direct military strikes.

The report notes that Washington is trying to maintain pressure on Tehran while still keeping diplomatic efforts alive. Trump’s representatives, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, are continuing to exchange proposals with Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi.

Despite these contacts, officials say the gap between the two sides remains significant, with neither party satisfied with the other’s proposals.

Meanwhile, a US initiative known as “Project Freedom,” aimed at assisting vessels stranded near the Strait of Hormuz, has been described by one source as a step that could potentially lead to confrontation with Iran.

According to United States Central Command, the operation could involve guided-missile destroyers, drones, more than 100 aircraft, and around 15,000 troops.
