Azerbaijani artist Morteza Parvin, who is being held in Tehran’s Evin Prison, has presented an artwork titled “Freedom” in Ward 7 of the facility.
The visual artist and political prisoner had organized several exhibitions prior to his arrest. This time, however, he created a calligraphy-style piece on a piece of fabric measuring approximately 1x1 meter under limited conditions and in the presence of other inmates.
The artwork features the phrase: “Oh freedom, how uncertain you are!”
The piece was met with applause by those in the ward. At the end, Morteza Parvin dedicated the work to women activists in Iran and specifically mentioned human rights lawyer and activist Nasrin Sotoudeh.
