This was announced by Shahrokh Sadeqpour, director of the Department of Environmental Protection of Bostanabad County (Ojan).

According to him, during the current rainy season, the lake’s water level has risen by 27 centimeters compared to the same period last year, increasing hopes for the revival of the natural monument.

Environmentalists say that despite the government’s failure to carry out restoration projects, the main reason behind the lake’s recovery is the heavy rainfall recorded in recent weeks.

It should be noted that Qurigol Lake, located 40 kilometers southeast of Tabriz and covering an area of 16 square kilometers, is one of the 26 internationally registered lakes in Iran recognized as a natural monument on a global level.

The lake, which covers 200 hectares, is home to 260 different plant species and also serves as a habitat for numerous native and migratory bird species.
