The IRGC Navy has once again threatened vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.

A senior official from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy stated that Tehran is closely monitoring developments in the region and will not allow its interests to be violated.

The remarks were reported by Iranian state media on Tuesday.

Mohammad Akbarzadeh, the political deputy of the IRGC Navy, said Iran’s armed forces are monitoring movements in and around the Strait of Hormuz and are prepared to respond to what he described as “provocative” actions.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran monitors regional movements with precision and determination and will not allow any encroachment on its waters and interests,” Akbarzadeh said in televised remarks.

He also noted that Iran has adopted a broader strategic approach toward the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s key oil shipping routes, and that Iranian naval forces continue to maintain an active presence in the area.

It should be noted that the Strait of Hormuz is considered international waters and is not recognized as Iran’s internal territorial waters.
