The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says Iran may be preparing for another possible confrontation with the United States and Israel while also seeking security guarantees in any future negotiations.
According to the Washington-based think tank, Iranian officials have signaled that Tehran will not enter talks unless credible deterrence measures are in place, including issues tied to control and sovereignty in the Strait of Hormuz.
The report further states that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) appears to be strengthening its influence within Iran’s political and security establishment under the leadership of Ahmad Vahidi and figures close to him.
ISW suggested that recent developments indicate Tehran is simultaneously pursuing diplomatic leverage and military preparedness amid fears of renewed regional escalation.
