Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s efforts to stay out of public view in order to survive indicate that he is using the Osama bin Laden model.
This was reported by Fox News, citing a counterterrorism analyst.
“For the first time in the history of the Islamic Republic, the United States has done to Tehran what it spent the last 20 years doing to al-Qaeda and ISIS,” Omar Mohammed told Fox News Digital.
According to him, “the United States has forced Iran’s leader into the kind of operational invisibility that bin Laden lived under in Abbottabad for 10 years.”
He said both men “responded the same way: they stopped appearing in public.” He added that bin Laden stopped releasing videos with identifiable recording dates after 2007 and instead relied on audio messages delivered by hand.
“Bin Laden stayed hidden for the rest of his life because the moment he surfaced was the moment he died. Mojtaba Khamenei will not emerge either,” he said.
