This was stated in an announcement by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

“The country’s current conditions are not suitable for holding parliamentary sessions in person, and the media should not speak about the closure of parliament,” the statement said.

The announcement, issued on June 10, was addressed to “media managers and editors,” asking them to inform the public of the Supreme National Security Council’s explanations in order to resolve “some ambiguities” regarding the non-conduct of parliamentary sessions.

It said that since the start of a third war and due to current security considerations, the parliament has not held open sessions in the usual format, and that in the council’s view this issue has created some doubts and negative interpretations.

It was also stated that the lack of in-person sessions is related to the safety of members of parliament:

“In a wartime situation, gathering representatives under one roof could create an opportunity for the enemy to inflict a heavy blow on the system.”
