Senator Lindsey Graham criticized the proposed $300 billion reconstruction fund that could be part of a potential agreement with Iran, saying that providing such support while the Islamic Republic remains in power would be “tone deaf.”

Senator Lindsey Graham criticized the proposed $300 billion reconstruction fund that could be part of a potential agreement with Iran, saying that providing such support while the Islamic Republic remains in power would be “tone deaf.”
In a post on X, Graham said he was “very glad” that President Trump had dismissed reports in the Iranian media regarding the terms of a possible agreement, calling the deal described by Tehran “awful.”
He praised Trump and the US military for weakening Iran through military strikes and a blockade, but stressed that any new agreement must be fundamentally different from the 2015 nuclear deal.
According to Graham, providing reconstruction funds to Iran would be like “offering a Marshall Plan to Germany while the Nazis were still in power,” and he said that any fund benefiting the Iranian government would not be a good idea at this time.
Graham also added that any agreement reached with Iran must be submitted to Congress for review and approval.
