Tehran, Qom, Semnan, and Markazi provinces are experiencing the worst drought conditions, with Tehran described as potentially in a “catastrophic” situation in this regard.
This was reported by the ILNA news agency.
Citing statistics on the country’s dams, the report said inflows to reservoirs have increased by 75% compared to last year and by 12% compared to the 10-year average. However, it also noted that 33% of the country’s total reservoir capacity remains empty.
The news agency also highlighted that in some regions up to 91% of dams are empty, warning that the situation could worsen further.
