The Criminal Court of Qom Province accused the defendants of “harming public modesty by producing and publishing obscene and unethical content in cyberspace” and issued the verdict based on these charges.

The video of the “Caravanserai concert” was published on Parastu Ahmadi’s YouTube channel in December 2024 and sparked widespread reactions on social media. She drew attention for performing without mandatory hijab at the historic Dayr Gachin caravanserai during this “virtual concert.”

The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have for years used vague terms such as “public modesty” and its “violation” to repress various segments of society.
