About 1,600 workers at the Tabriz Machine Manufacturing Plant have gone on strike in protest against the non-payment of two months' wages.
According to the ILNA news agency, the workers stopped work on Tuesday in order to “pursue their legal rights” and demanded the payment of their two months of overdue salaries.
The Azerbaijani workers told ILNA that their wages remain unpaid at a time when inflation and rising prices have made living conditions increasingly difficult.
According to the report, following the strike, a meeting of the Labor Commission was held at the East Azerbaijan Governorate to address the workers’ grievances. However, no information has yet been released regarding the outcome of the meeting, and provincial officials have not commented on the matter.
The workers stressed that the immediate payment of their overdue wages and guarantees for their labor rights are urgent demands that cannot be postponed.
