Iranian lawmaker Kamran Ghazanfari has accused President Masoud Pezeshkian of preventing Iran from launching a strike against Azerbaijan.
Speaking in parliament, Ghazanfari criticized the Azerbaijani government and claimed that Iran's Armed Forces had intended to strike Baku.
He alleged that the Azerbaijani leadership had cooperated with the United States and Israel both during the helicopter crash that killed former President Ebrahim Raisi and during what Iran refers to as the "12-day war."
Ghazanfari did not provide any evidence to support these claims.
Iranian authorities have also issued no official statement confirming the lawmaker's assertion that there had been a plan to strike Baku.
It is worth noting that Ghazanfari, who is known for his controversial statements, is a hardline politician and an opponent of President Masoud Pezeshkian. He has previously made similar accusations against the Republic of Azerbaijan.
