Azerbaijani Turk activist Jalal Darugar was arrested by Iranian security forces at his workplace in the city of Ahar on Saturday, June 27.
The information was reported by human rights organizations.
According to the reports, the reason for his arrest and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The arrest came one day after a memorial ceremony marking the third day since the death of Azerbaijani national activist Saleh Molla Abbasi.
The ceremony, held at the Chahardeh Masum Mosque in Ahar, was attended by a large number of Azerbaijani political and national activists. Banners and notices written in Azerbaijani Turkish were displayed during the event.
Jalal Darugar has previously been arrested several times due to his civil activism and his advocacy for the rights of South Azerbaijan's Turkic population.
