The information was reported by human rights organizations.

The hunger strike began after the two activists were transferred from their previous ward to separate cells housing inmates convicted of serious crimes.

They accused prison authorities of violating the principle of classifying prisoners according to the nature of the charges against them.

The two political prisoners said the transfer was carried out at the request of Iran's security agencies and described it as a form of pressure and additional punishment.

It is worth noting that Abbas Lisani, Ali Kheyrjoo, Behzad Dashti, and Yusif Kari were arrested on November 11, 2025, outside Tehran's Evin Prison while holding a sit-in in support of Azerbaijani political prisoners who were staging a hunger strike.

They have been charged with "membership in an illegal group," "assembly and collusion against national security," and "disturbing public order."

All of the activists have previously been arrested multiple times for their peaceful cultural and national activities.
