Azerbaijani political activist Mohammadreza Morad Behrouzi, who is being held in Chubindar Prison in Qazvin, has reportedly been brutally beaten by government officials and prison guards.
According to human rights organizations, the assault took place after political prisoners protested against pressure and insults by prison guards.
As a result of the beating, Mohammadreza Morad Behrouzi suffered several broken ribs, a broken arm, and severe facial injuries.
Reports say that due to the seriousness of his condition, he was transferred to a hospital.
It should be noted that Mohammadreza Morad Behrouzi was arrested on several charges, including "acting against national security."
His wife, Suri Babai Chegini, was also detained during a protest on January 6 and was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of "insulting the Supreme Leader" and "propaganda against the state."
