With the launch of the gold processing facility at the Jangsar Gold Mine in Khoy County, West Azerbaijan Province, annual gold production in the county is expected to reach 400 kilograms.
The announcement was made by the West Azerbaijan Province Department of Industry, Mine and Trade.
Officials said that attracting additional investment will be necessary to expand mining operations and increase gold processing capacity.
West Azerbaijan Province currently accounts for approximately 30% of Iran's annual gold production.
