A 59-year-old teacher from Zanjan, Javad Safari, has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Human rights organizations reported the case.
According to the reports, the teacher, who was arrested during the January protests, was charged with “insulting the Supreme Leader” and “encouraging young people to protest.”
It was also reported that he was severely beaten both during his arrest and while in detention, and that he was not allowed access to a lawyer.
