The current volume of water in Lake Urmia stands at 3.14 billion cubic meters.

Rza Rahmani, secretary of the National Task Force for the Restoration of Lake Urmia, said this.

He said the current volume is approximately seven times higher than during the same period last year.

Although the lake’s water volume stood at 4.2 billion cubic meters last month, it has gradually begun to evaporate and decline as temperatures have risen.

Environmentalists had previously predicted this trend, warning that the amount of water in the lake could fall to around 2 billion cubic meters during the summer months.

It should be noted that the maximum ecological (historical ideal) water capacity of Lake Urmia was approximately 30–32 billion cubic meters, while its surface area was around 5,000–6,000 square kilometers.
